First one is on coming monday at 14 hours sharp. Depending on the numbers we will occupy either the cosmo dark room or the regular seminar room.
Marco Caldarelli has very kindly agreed to give us a series of 3 lectures on "higher dimensional black holes". The topics covered are :
1) Black holes in general relativity, a short review ;
2) Phases, thermodynamics and instabilities of higher dimensional black
holes ;
3) Effective world-volume theories for black holes and fluid dynamics.
The lectures are aimed at a graduate level and will only assume basic knowledge of differential geometry, general relativity, and of the Schrödinger and Kerr solutions.
